Guide to spotting a scam email

This is an example scam email

Scan Emails

How would you know?

  • Scam emails often state in the subject and in the email that you need to update or confirm your personal details

You will often be asked for your user id, password, personal details, and sometimes card details.

We NEVER ask you for these security or personal details by email.
  • Scam emails pretend the pages they direct you to are secure.

Often these pages will look like the GE Money website, however it's not. Never click a link to online services from an email. If you're ever in any doubt about a page's authenticity, remember to check the site certificate.

GE Money will NEVER link to online services by email.
  • Scam emails aren't normally addressed to you by name, as they don't generally know any of your details other than your email address.
Where we can we'll include some more information about you on any emails we send like your name, personal detail, or part of your address.
